GIANT’S LAST BREATH, ROCKINGHAM, AUSTRALIA 2024
The final moments of a stranded ocean giant off the coast of Western Australia
In the quiet dawn of Rockingham Beach, Western Australia, a colossal presence emerged: a sperm whale, stranded just 70 meters offshore. Despite efforts by marine officers to guide it back to deeper waters, the whale succumbed to natural causes by early morning, drifting toward Garden Island before its final breath.
Witnessing this majestic creature's last moments was a profound experience. Through my lens, I aimed to capture not just the enormity of its physical form but the silent narrative of vulnerability and the delicate balance of marine life. This image stands as a testament to the awe-inspiring beauty and the poignant fragility of our ocean's giants.
